Decision Guide

How to Choose the Right IBC Tote

Answer these four questions in order and you'll know exactly which product category fits your application.

1

Will you store food, beverages, or pharmaceutical ingredients?

YES →

You need a food-grade reconditioned or new IBC tote with certified cleaning documentation. Grade A used totes with food-grade history may qualify — ask us.

NO →

Any grade works. Proceed to question 2 to narrow down further based on regulatory needs.

2

Does your application require UN/DOT certification for hazmat transport?

YES →

You need new totes or UN-recertified reconditioned totes. Used totes carry their original UN mark but are not re-certified after reconditioning unless specifically requested.

NO →

All grades are eligible. Proceed to question 3.

3

Is lowest upfront cost your top priority?

YES →

Used Grade B or C totes are your best value. For applications like water hauling, dust control, or agricultural chemical storage, cosmetics don't matter — function does.

NO →

Consider reconditioned for the balance of reliability and savings, or new if you want maximum longevity and a clean paper trail.

4

Do you need modifications, custom fittings, or a non-standard configuration?

YES →

Start with our Custom Solutions page. We can modify used, reconditioned, or new totes to your specifications.

NO →

Our Process

Quality Assurance — Every Single Unit

Whether you order a single used tote or a truckload of reconditioned units, every container passes through the same six-step evaluation before it leaves our facility. No shortcuts, no guessing — just documented, verifiable quality.

Our inspection records are available upon request and include the unit's previous-content history, test results, and the technician sign-off. We believe transparency is as important as the tote itself.

Learn About Our Inspection Service
01

Incoming Inspection

Every tote is photographed, measured, and assessed upon arrival. Structural damage, valve condition, and previous contents are all documented.

02

Pressure & Leak Testing

Bottles are pressure-tested to rated capacity. Any unit that fails is quarantined for recycling rather than resale.

03

Cage & Pallet Evaluation

Steel cage frames are checked for corrosion, bent bars, and weld integrity. Pallets are inspected for rot, cracking, and forklift damage.

04

Cleaning & Sanitization

Units destined for reconditioning undergo triple-rinse hot-water cleaning followed by chemical sanitization and air-purge drying.

05

Grading & Classification

Each tote receives a final grade (A, B, or C for used; Reconditioned; or New) and is tagged with a QR-linked inspection record.

06

Ready for Delivery

Graded inventory moves to our outbound dock for same-day or next-day dispatch. You receive photos of your specific units before shipment.

Our Promise

Product Warranty & Returns

We stand behind everything we sell. Here's what to expect if something isn't right.

Used Totes

Used totes are sold as-is per their documented grade. If a tote does not match its assigned grade on arrival — a structural issue missed in inspection, a leaking valve despite a passing test — we replace or refund within 7 days of delivery. No restocking fee.

7-Day Grade Guarantee

Reconditioned Totes

Our 30-day performance guarantee covers the new components we install: valve, cap, and gaskets. If any installed component fails under normal use within 30 days, we replace it free of charge. Food-grade certification is backed by our cleaning documentation.

30-Day Performance Guarantee

New Totes

New totes carry a full 12-month manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. We act as your warranty intermediary — if an issue arises, contact us and we coordinate the claim, replacement, or repair on your behalf.

12-Month Manufacturer Warranty

Return policy: Undamaged, unmodified totes may be returned within 14 days for a refund minus freight costs. Custom orders are non-refundable once fabrication begins. Contact us before returning any unit — in most cases we can resolve issues faster with a replacement or credit than a return shipment.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a 275-gallon and a 330-gallon IBC tote?+

Both sizes share the same 48" × 40" footprint, so they fit the same racking, pallets, and transport positions. The 330-gallon model is approximately 7 inches taller and holds 20% more liquid. For most applications either works — choose 330 if you want to minimize the number of totes on site, or 275 if you have height restrictions in your facility or storage space.

Can I mix grades in a single order?+

Absolutely. Many customers order a mix — for example, Grade A used totes for water storage and reconditioned food-grade units for product storage. We quote and ship mixed orders routinely. Just specify the quantity of each grade when you contact us.

How quickly can you ship?+

Used totes in stock ship same day or next business day. Reconditioned totes are typically ready in 1–3 business days. New totes have a 1–2 week lead time from the manufacturer. For large orders (25+ units), contact us to confirm scheduling — we usually accommodate rush requests.

Do you deliver outside of Kansas?+

Yes. We ship to customers across the Midwest and beyond via flatbed, enclosed trailer, or LTL freight carriers. We can quote delivered pricing to your location — just include your zip code with your inquiry.

What is the maximum weight a standard IBC tote can hold?+

Standard composite IBCs (HDPE bottle, steel cage) are rated for contents with a specific gravity up to 1.2 at standard operating pressure. That works out to approximately 2,760 lbs for a 275-gallon unit and 3,300 lbs for a 330-gallon unit. For heavier contents or higher SG fluids, contact us — specialty-rated totes are available.

Are used IBC totes safe for water storage?+

Grade A used totes with food-grade or water previous content are excellent for water storage. The HDPE bottle is inherently food-safe, and a simple triple-rinse is typically sufficient before filling with non-potable water. For potable drinking water, we recommend our food-grade reconditioned units with a documented cleaning history.

What happens if a tote arrives damaged?+

We photograph every unit before dispatch and include those photos with your shipment record. If damage occurs in transit, we support your freight claim with documentation. If damage is on our end, we replace the unit at no cost. We stand behind our quality assessment — if your tote doesn't match its grade on arrival, call us and we'll make it right.

Need Help Choosing the Right Tote?
